Data centers are getting priority gas turbine slots, but four hurdles still stand between a slot and running their own power.

At Singapore International Energy Week, Giresh Prabhat says turbine suppliers are giving data centers priority slots, engineering teams and commercial flexibility. That is his practitioner read as head of Atrion Energy and a former GE Vernova executive, not an OEM quote; Mitsubishi Power says new large-frame deliveries now run to about 2031. He lists four hurdles still in the way: sizing bring-your-own-power at N+1 to N+3 plus fuel cells, gas permitting in Southeast Asia, an owner-operator business model, and long-term service agreements built for grid plants rather than campus load. A slot is not a running plant.

A 50 MW data center is not a 50 MW data center if it can only hold that load for six hours.

Brado Greene argues that nameplate megawatts and sustained megawatts split apart under agentic AI workloads, because the load never idles and the cooling never gets a chance to recover. A site rated at 50 MW that can only hold it for six hours is a smaller site in practice. This is LinkedIn analysis with no study cited, but it is the right question for utilities and campus owners sizing power and cooling.

uni-robot-agent (184 stars): one free toolkit to test whether an AI agent can run a robot before you buy one.

uni-robot-agent is an MIT-licensed harness that runs robot-use agents on Codex or Claude Code, tests them in the RoboDojo simulator, and can hand motion to a Pi0.5 action model. Tasks are lab work like stacking bowls, not plant work. It has 184 GitHub stars.

For operations and automation teams: test whether an agent can drive a robot before buying one.
