Alberta data centers have asked for 26,849 MW of power, against a 1,200 MW limit that is already used up.

Requests to connect data centres in Alberta grew from about 19,565 MW in July to 26,849 MW in October, roughly twice the province's record peak. All 1,200 MW of interim room went to two projects, and Phase 2 rules favor projects that bring their own generation. Requests are not approvals.
